What happens

In Paris, Lord Edward Whiteford, a young English officer, meets Ilona, a young woman in costume at the President's Ball at the Opera. When he asks her uncle, Count Stefan Kohari, for her hand, the count offers an unusual test: Edward must spend a week or two at the Chateau des Eis and sleep in its tapestry room. Ilona warns him that everyone who has slept there has died, including a bishop. Edward insists he is not afraid and makes a wager with the count. The story is presented as part of the Suspense radio series, which first aired on January 19, 1943, starring Peter Lorre.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
