What happens

Robert Tasker, a former convict paroled through the help of lawyer Max Kregar, is on trial for the murder of Arthur Hines, Kregar's law partner. Tasker tells his own story from the witness stand. After joining Kregar's office as a clerk, he has been forced to work alongside Hines, who openly despises him and has been arguing with a dangerous ex-convict named Harry Marvin over $50,000. Tasker's coworker Peggy, the switchboard operator, has secrets of her own. The episode is part of the Suspense series, with Alan Ladd starring as Tasker and John McIntyre as Kregar.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
