What happens

Ellen Johnson, a chemical plant clerk, finds a letter on a Monday morning warning Sheila Mannix that a man named Jack plans to kill her at a parade at noon. Ellen searches the city for Sheila, going from an apartment house to a rooming house, a drugstore, and a bookstore, trying to reach her before the warning comes true. Her hunt leads her to a rooftop above the parade route, where she confronts the woman she has been seeking. Agnes Morehead stars in this Suspense play, broadcast by CBS on February 15, 1951.

A city on a sunny morning and afternoon, including a cafe, an apartment house, a rooming house, a drugstore, a bookstore, and the roof of the Benson building above the parade route at Maine and Thomas streets.

Characters: Ellen Johnson, Sheila Mannix, Jack, Lieutenant, Sergeant

Listen for: Ellen's increasingly frantic attempts to find Sheila Mannix before noon, and her confrontation with the police afterward.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
