What happens

Philip LeFanu, a barrister recovering from overwork, travels to Middlecroft Farm in the flat countryside near Morbid Station to stay with his cousins Silas and Letty. The house is tense: Silas is hostile toward the overseer John Jago, and Philip is drawn to Naomi, a young relative living there. Philip is a fictional barrister in a story told in the Suspense radio series, adapted from the Wilkie Collins tale The Dead Alive, with Herbert Marshall in the lead role. The original air date was March 9, 1953. Philip finds himself in the middle of a dispute between Silas and Jago, and a green glow from a nearby lime kiln hangs over the grove where much of the action takes place.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
