What happens

Henry Hayden, a man who has just left work and is heading home to his wife Jesse and infant son Johnny, is caught up in a police hunt for Roy Jaleska, a wanted murderer hiding in a boarding house on his street. Police surround the block as Henry phones Jesse, who sounds strange, leading him to worry that Jaleska has reached his apartment. The captain allows Henry to go up to check on his family, and Henry finds himself face to face with the fugitive in a tense standoff inside his own rooms.

A city neighborhood block near the river, with a drugstore, a boarding house, and the Haydens' apartment house, all surrounded by police.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
