What happens

Joe Bland, a bitter ex-convict, stands on the Grand Street Bridge intending to end his life when a woman driver stops and talks him down. She gives him a lift and, moved by his story of being falsely accused of embezzlement, takes him to her husband's library at the Bodine home. Mrs. Bodine offers Joe a job and a thousand dollars from a drawer of cash, then leaves him alone in the room with her husband's secretary, Faraday, and the money. Lee Bowman stars in this episode of Suspense, broadcast on February 15, 1945, and Joe's situation quickly turns dangerous.

Grand Street Bridge, a city at night; the Bodine home library

Characters: Joe Bland, Lenore Bodine, Andrew Bodine, Faraday, Lieutenant Vance, Tannen

Listen for: Joe's account of the bridge, the offer made in the Bodine library, and the sudden turn when he finds an armed man waiting in his room

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
