What happens

A man is taken to prison by train, handcuffed to an officer after being convicted of murdering his wife. Years later, having escaped from San Quentin's death row, he hides in Mexico City, where he sells poems to a publisher, and then returns to Los Angeles to retrieve a file of his own writing from the house he once shared with his wife. The story follows his shifting perceptions of guilt and innocence as he moves from one scene of imprisonment and escape to another, the transcript capturing him in the middle of these events. This is an episode of Suspense, first broadcast on March 3, 1957, starring Vincent Price in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
