What happens

Maury Schwartz, a traveling necktie salesman, arrives in Chicago and rents a room at a theatrical rooming house on Deacon Street. The room belongs to a woman named Laverne, who has been gone for years, and Schwartz is drawn into her past. Trying to learn who she was, he tracks a telephone number and a key he found in her room, and he begins pressing Jasper Florence, a stage producer, about an old theater. Schwartz sets out to uncover what became of Laverne, and the trail leads him back to the empty Florence Theatre. This is the Suspense episode '19 Deacon Street', broadcast on January 26, 1958, starring Jerome Thor.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
