What happens

Hercules Remington, a piano tuner, finds a brown bag holding $25,000 on a New York subway after his own bag of tools is swapped with a bald man's bag. Instead of going to the police, he tells his wife Martha and his Uncle Herman what happened, and the family argues over whether to keep the money. Martha is furious and insists the money must be turned in. The story is presented as a Suspense episode, first broadcast on April 5, 1951, starring Jack Benny.

New York City, 1951, including a subway car, a music school, a Remington home, and Coney Island.

Characters: Hercules Remington, Martha, Uncle Herman, Lieutenant

Listen for: Listen for the moment Remington first opens the bag of money on the subway and realizes it is not his.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
