What happens

Jacqueline Blaine and her husband Gil run a struggling dude ranch in the Hudson Valley, deep in debt. Their guest Mr. Burroughs leaves before dawn without his secretary Marsh, and strange events follow. Margot, using the name Jacqueline Blaine, and Kent Smith as Gil Blaine lead the cast of this Suspense broadcast, which airs on Columbia. The story by Cornell Woolrich, Last Night, was first heard on June 15, 1943. The couple is pressed for money, and questions about the guest's departure and an unpaid sum begin to mount. Gil and Jackie grow uneasy as Marsh and a detective take an interest in the household.

Listen for: Listen for how the discrepancy over the missing money and Mr. Burroughs's sudden departure builds suspicion among the household.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
