What happens

Dix Steele, a former pilot newly back in Los Angeles, reunites with his old wartime friend Brub, a police detective, and Brub's wife Sylvia. Brub is hunting the Strangler, who has killed four young women across the city, and the search is growing frustrating for the police. Dix begins meeting a red-haired woman named Laurel, and the two grow close. Brub's questions about the killer, and the dust evidence and the murder car, weigh on Dix as he listens to the investigators talk. This episode of Suspense, a radio drama, aired on March 6, 1948, with Robert Montgomery starring.

Los Angeles, California, in the months after the Second World War, including the Beverly Hills police station, a drive-in restaurant, and Beverly Glen Canyon.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
