What happens
Suspense presents Good Night, Mrs. Russell, a 1954 episode first broadcast on August 3, 1954. Mrs. Russell, a middle-aged office worker, regularly eats lunch at a small cafe run by Henry, a quiet, polite young man. One night she stops in alone after working late, and Henry seems uneasy and watchful. Her behavior becomes strained, and Henry's manner grows increasingly unsettling as he speaks of hearing voices and enemies. Mrs. Russell tries to understand what is troubling him while trying to protect herself. Virginia Gregg plays Mrs. Russell and Vic Perrin plays Henry.
A small cafe a half block from the Hillmar building, and later Henry's nearby home, in a city at night
Characters: Mrs. Russell, Henry
Listen for: Henry's unusual remarks at the cafe and the way his manner shifts as Mrs. Russell tries to keep him calm
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
