What happens

Victor Frankenstein confides in his friend James Gibson, a minister, that he has built a complete human body from parts and given it life. Victor fears what he has done, but he will not yet destroy the creature and keeps it locked in a windowless addition to his laboratory. James tries to persuade him to stop, while Victor's wife Elizabeth is sent away and the two men's friendship is strained. The Suspense series presented this radio adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein on November 3, 1952, with Herbert Marshall as the star. The story is told in the first part of the episode.

A village in the countryside, with a minister's house, a garden overlooking a valley, and Victor Frankenstein's laboratory with its windowless addition.

Characters: Victor Frankenstein, James Gibson, Mary, Elizabeth, William

Listen for: The creature's first movements inside the locked laboratory addition, and James's growing alarm as he realises what Victor has made.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
