What happens

At the Drury Lane Theatre in London, a first-night performance of Macbeth is underway while Marcia Blair, a retired actress, watches from a box with her second husband, Howard White. Her first husband, Barry Lake, is believed dead, but she has received letters suggesting he is still alive and threatening her if she marries again. Her companion secretary, Louise Fenton, and White's chauffeur, Jim Bradley, guard the box during the performance. The magician Ludwig von Anheim, a friend of White's, moves through the theatre. The story is an episode of the Suspense series, first broadcast on April 6, 1943, with Paul Lucas as the guest star.

Characters: Marcia Blair, Howard White, Louise Fenton, Jim Bradley, Ludwig von Anheim, Myron Willard, Barry Lake, Inspector Grimes

Listen for: The moment Marcia Blair is found dead in her box, and the conversation between von Anheim and Howard White about her fears.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
