What happens
Peter Weldon, a small-time worker in the city, tries to leave his partner Feathers Grogan, a loan shark who has grown brutal in his dealings with desperate borrowers. Grogan refuses to let him go and threatens him with a gun. Later, a police captain learns that Peter has been killed and that Grogan is held in custody on the money-lending charges. The captain assigns Gilroy to the case, and the investigation stalls for lack of proof. The episode is part of the Suspense series, broadcast on January 14, 1962, and stars Lawson Zerbe.
A large city, in a loan-sharking racket and a police station
Characters: Feathers Grogan, Peter Weldon, Captain Nichols, Gilroy, Richard Weldon
Listen for: Grogan's superstitions about his rabbit's foot and horseshoes, and the captain's plan to pressure him
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
