What happens

Kathy, a sixteen-year-old, goes to a high school dance with Jerry, a young man her father finds unsuitable. Her father, Dan, has warned that she must be home straight after midnight, and he distrusts Jerry from the start. Dan's wife, Cass, is more sympathetic to the couple. As the hour grows late, Dan grows increasingly anxious and sits waiting in the quiet house, while the evening after the dance takes a turn his daughter did not expect. Kathy and Jerry return home late, and Dan confronts them about the lateness and about what they have been doing.

A suburban home and the surrounding town, on the night of a high school dance

Characters: Kathy, Jerry, Dan, Cass

Listen for: Dan's growing worry as the clock ticks past midnight, and the confrontation when Kathy and Jerry finally return home

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
