What happens

Renee Orlando, a sideshow performer billed as Renee the Robot, lives under the control of his employer Omara, who has ordered him around for fifteen years. Renee is married to Gabrielle, a trapeze performer who has grown tired of the carnival's constant moves and her husband's humiliation. Their trailer conversations reveal Renee's jealousy and Gabrielle's resentment toward Omara. The story is part of the Suspense radio series, first broadcast on January 28, 1952, and stars Joseph Cotton. The episode presents the carnival life, the tensions within Renee's marriage, and the growing pressure on the three characters as they face each other in the trailer.

A traveling carnival and the trailers and sideshow tent where its performers live and work, in the years after Renee left his small Louisiana home.

Characters: Renee Orlando, Gabrielle, Omara

Listen for: The scene in which Renee is slapped by a child at the sideshow, and the trailer conversations between Renee and Gabrielle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
