What happens
Gary Drury, a successful actor, and his playwright John Scales are struck by a car after leaving the theatre, and Drury is badly wounded. The story follows the desperate scramble to save Drury's life while he bleeds on the pavement and then in a dressing room. Scales is sure of his own blood's compatibility and watches the doctor's preparations closely as he weighs the situation around him. The episode is part of the Suspense series, first broadcast on March 30, 1950, and stars Joseph Cotton.
A theatre district street in a city, the stage door, and a theatre dressing room, present day
Characters: Gary Drury, John Scales, Walters, Dr. Carson
Listen for: Pay attention to the doctor's blood-typing test and the plate used to match blood.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
