What happens
A stage actress called Madeline Tremaine, later Madeline Maine, tells two clergymen the story of her career while they wait out a storm at her isolated house. Her first breakthrough came under the direction of John Gaylord, who later became her husband. Their marriage grew strained as her fame outpaced his, and a bitter rivalry with a fellow actress, Nell Garrett, sets events in motion. Angela Lansbury plays Madeline in this episode of Suspense, a radio drama first broadcast on May 29, 1947, sponsored by Roma Wines. The story is told in her own words as the visitors listen.
A dark, isolated house during a storm, where Madeline recounts her life to two clergymen; the story moves between London theatres, lodgings and her home.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
