What happens

PFC Larry Connolly, a soldier in Korea, is ordered to drive a truck on Christmas night 1958 and picks up a hitchhiker in the snow. The stranger, Richard Dombrowski, is hatless and gloveless, and his explanations for his condition seem evasive. As they travel, Dombrowski tells Connolly about a patrol on Christmas Day 1951, when his squad came under attack in the snowy rice paddies. The story is told in the form of a radio drama on the anthology series Suspense, first broadcast December 20, 1959. The lead actor playing Connolly is Bill Linton.

Listen for: The hitchhiker's odd remarks about his gloves, his hat and his bag, and the sergeant's account of the 1951 patrol

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
