What happens

Jeff Mander rides into Pleasant Valley searching for the man he believes killed his brother Seth in Abilene. He arrives as townsmen are digging up a body, and the sheriff, Jake Garvey, is pressed by angry locals who want swift justice against Lee Burridge, a man they blame for the death of Fred Costen. Mander refuses to let the town take Burridge, and he is caught between a crowd bent on a lynching and a man he has tracked for two years. Ben Chaffee, who has been drinking with the group, presses hardest for the hanging. The story is set in a rough frontier community in the mountains, and this broadcast is an installment of the CBS radio series Suspense, aired on February 3, 1955.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
