Editor Perry White is frustrated by the manhunt and Clark Kent slips away to search the city's underworld. Following a lead from a criminal named Blackie, Superman learns of a woman called Mrs. Gaunt on Crandall Street, but she has already moved on. In a penthouse apartment, the Vulture menaces the terrified Dr. Cameron with a box of rattlesnakes and forces him to write a letter luring his friends into a trap. The episode is part three of The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on March 25, 1943.

Present-day American city, including the dingy underworld hangouts, Crandall Street, police headquarters, and a penthouse apartment.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
