What happens
Clark Kent and Major Dover, on an excavation among Mayan ruins in Central America, have fallen through a floor into a chamber beneath the temple. There the high priest Camaro is hurriedly loading gold and gems into chests, while his accomplice Burt, a cockney advisor to Chief Tasso, plans to flee by plane with the treasure. Their scheme involves the goddess Ashta, whom the natives believe has come to life. Burt confronts Camaro, and the two men turn on each other. Kent, meanwhile, finds the goddess's lookalike awake, and he works to lead her and the Major to safety as the natives gather outside the temple. This is a Superman serial episode from The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on August 23, 1940.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
