What happens
Superman finds young Bucky Taylor nearly drowned in a flooded stone tower of an old French castle and revives him. Bucky, the orphaned son of a former Daily Planet correspondent, explains that he was held captive by the man without a face, who wanted the hiding place of his late father's story about a plot against the World Peace Organization. Bucky admits he may have revealed the hiding place before he passed out. Superman races with Bucky to a former Nazi concentration camp where Bucky says he buried the story, only to find the hole already dug and empty. The episode is part nine of The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on March 28, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
