What happens
Superman, disguised as Clark Kent, and Jimmy Olsen are visiting the ranch of Comanche Joe, a wealthy Indian oilman. The ranch foreman, Ronson, has been staging strange accidents, each preceded by a coyote's howl, to frighten Comanche Joe into believing an Indian legend and selling his land cheaply. As fires break out at the oil wells, Kent argues that someone is exploiting the superstition, and Comanche Joe prepares to use nitroglycerin to put out the blaze. Meanwhile, a hired man named Tex is recruited by Ronson for a well-paid job that involves keeping quiet. This is part eight of the Superman transcription serial.
Comanche Joe's ranch and its oil fields, where wells are burning
Characters: Superman, Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen, Comanche Joe, Ronson, Tex, Pat, Dusty
Listen for: Clark Kent's argument that the coyote howls are the work of a human schemer, and Comanche Joe's decision to handle the nitroglycerin himself
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
