What happens
Lois Lane and editor Perry White respond to a telegram signed Superman and go to meet him at the deserted Carson mansion, where they hope to learn what he knows about the murder of Dr. Chih Wan, a scholar and art collector. Clark Kent and young Jimmy Olsen follow them there after trying to obtain a copy of the telegram. Inside, a man claiming to be Superman promises information within 48 hours, but a blow is struck in the dark and the pretender is found unconscious on the floor. The man admits he was paid fifty dollars by a jewel dealer named Walter Huffman to impersonate Superman. Clark Kent begins to suspect Huffman may be planning to flee the city.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
