What happens
Superman and Batman investigate a mystery after a prisoner, Eric Larson, who was pronounced dead and buried, appears to be sending threatening notes and phone calls. Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne visit the state prison, where the warden shows them Larson's grave, and when Kent reports the coffin is empty and it is opened, both men collapse from a strange odor. The two heroes question the warden and the prison doctor, then listen to a recording of a call and conclude that Larson is alive. Their search takes a dangerous turn when Alfred, Batman's butler, is found unconscious and bleeding at Bruce Wayne's door. This episode is from the 1946 radio series The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on 1946-09-27.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
