What happens
Clark Kent waits at City Hospital for a young woman rescued from the burning Sterling Tower to recover enough to say who she is. Her identity is still unknown, and police believe the fire was set on purpose. Meanwhile, two men in a black sedan worry that the woman may talk. Kent learns she has spoken of a car and two men, and he follows a car on the highway, where he stops a vehicle that turns out to be a police car. Back at the hospital, two visitors claiming to be the woman's relatives slip past the nurse, and a violent struggle follows. The story is part of the radio series The Adventures of Superman, and this installment is broadcast on March 6, 1940.
Metropolis, at the City Hospital and along the highway out of town, during the night following the fire at the Sterling Tower.
Characters: Clark Kent, Superman, Nurse Gray, Dr. Peter, Joe, Max
Listen for: Listen for the nurse's report that the girl spoke of a car and two men, and for the sudden scream from the hospital room.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
