What happens
Mr. Jones, leader of a criminal gang, lures Superman into a trap by posing as his twin brother, the music teacher Algernon, and uses a bottle of dissolved Kryptonite to leave Superman dazed and helpless. Batman and Robin, uneasy about Superman's long absence, search the apartment house where he was lured and find it empty. They spot an ambulance leaving the alley and hire a truck driver named Tony to chase it up Mount George. Their truck breaks down partway up the mountain, leaving them stranded as the ambulance disappears toward the top. Meanwhile, at a laboratory on the mountain, Jones and a scientist named Professor Noshima prepare a device they believe will finish off Superman. This is the 21st part of the Looking For Kryptonite storyline, first aired on January 2, 1946, on the Mutual network.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
