What happens
Horatio Hornblower-style amateur detective Horatio Horn and reporter Lois Lane travel to a mountain lodge after a telegram about nuclear expert Professor Sturgeon. Their car plunges into a swollen mountain stream, and they struggle to survive the current. Lois and Horn reach the lodge and find it deserted, with the caretaker gone and the telegram's address leading nowhere. Clark Kent arrives and searches the area, then learns from Inspector Henderson that the medal found at the scene is linked to an organization that cannot be found. The episode is part of The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on July 5, 1946.
A mountain stream, a farmhouse, a deserted mountain lodge, and the police office in Metropolis
Characters: Horatio Horn, Lois Lane, Clark Kent, Inspector Henderson, Professor Sturgeon, Healy, Dr. McCrae
Listen for: The swollen stream rescue, the deserted lodge, and the medal from the International Scientific Society
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
