What happens

Superman, a visitor from another planet, is hovering above an Indiana highway when a runaway trolley car carrying Professor Dan and his son Jimmy begins rolling downhill with failed brakes. Superman rescues the pair from the wreck and then asks them for advice on how to live among ordinary people. Following their suggestion, he takes the name Clark Kent and seeks work at a metropolitan newspaper. Editor Mr. White is skeptical of the newcomer but agrees to give him a chance after Kent mentions a story about a saboteur known as the Wolf, who has threatened the railroads. Kent is sent west on a flight to pursue the lead.

A quiet Indiana highway and trolley line, then a metropolitan newspaper city room and an airport, all during a hot day and foggy night.

Characters: Superman, Professor Dan, Jimmy, Clark Kent, Mr. White, Miss Smith

Listen for: The rescue of the trolley passengers, and Mr. White's reaction when Clark Kent mentions the Wolf and the threats against the railroads.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
