What happens
Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Planet, is in the office of city editor Perry White when an eccentric photographer named Asahatch arrives. Asahatch reports that a bullet shot from a rifle has passed through his hat in the street. He mentions a planned visit to Buffalo Hills, where Governor Carson is to make a major address at the unveiling of a mountain sculpture. Soon after, a gunman fires into White's office through the window. Superman climbs across to the empty loft where the shot came from and confronts the gunman, who gives a few words about the attack before dying. The gunman names Flores and Carson, and the characters are left puzzled about their connection. Governor Carson's car is also reported to have crashed. The series is The Adventures of Superman, first aired on May 13, 1940.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
