What happens
In 1939, a retired officer, Colonel Roy Cronin, pauses on Waterloo Bridge in London and recalls a wartime evening in 1916. There he met Myra Lester, a dancer, during an air raid, and the two quickly fell in love. Roy is shipped back to the front while the couple plan to meet again. Later, Myra and her roommate Kitty struggle to find work, and Myra faces a difficult choice about her future. This Screen Guild Theater adaptation of Robert E. Sherwood's play, from a broadcast dated January 12, 1941, stars Joan Fontaine and Brian Aherne in the leads.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
