What happens
Roger Pryor hosts a variety broadcast of the Gulf Screen Guild Theater, with Judy Garland, Cary Grant, Mickey Rooney, Anne Southern and Oscar Bradley's orchestra. The evening is a light, comic show of songs and banter. Mickey Rooney shows off a play he has written and a song he wants rewritten, and he tries to talk Cary Grant into starring in his picture. The guests joke about a fire at a theater, about Mickey's agent, and about Cary Grant's flying. The program also includes a question box quiz with forfeits and a plug for the Motion Picture Relief Fund.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
