What happens
Gregory Peck stars in this Screen Guild Theater radio adaptation of the film Twelve O'Clock High. In England in 1942, the hard-luck 918th Bomb Group suffers heavy losses, and its commander, Colonel Keith Davenport, orders a dangerous low-altitude mission against a German target. Brigadier General Frank Savage arrives to investigate the group's troubles. He questions Davenport, whose sympathy for his men is clashing with the demands of command, and examines the group's record and its officers. When Savage takes over, he confronts morale problems and personal failings among the men and their leaders, setting out to rebuild the squadron through discipline and a new sense of pride.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
