What happens
Screen Guild Theater presents Thwarted Ambition, a comedy sketch from its May 7, 1939 broadcast, with Joe E. Brown, Claudette Colbert and Edith Fellows among the cast. Joe E. Brown and Edith Fellows discover that their fathers were college classmates, and Claudette Colbert arrives as the guest of honor. Young Edith Fellows then visits a series of Hollywood producers, each one reorganized into a different job, in hopes of landing a film contract. The show features songs from Phil Regan and the King's Men along with sponsor messages for Gulf oil.
A Hollywood radio studio, and the offices of film producers in Hollywood

Listen for: The running gag in which each producer is replaced in a new reorganization, leaving young Edith Fellows without a contract
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
