What happens
In June 1940, Prudence Hathaway, a private in the WAAFs, meets Clive Briggs on a rainy day and the two grow close during a short acquaintance. Clive, a bitter and moody man, takes Prudence to his aunt's country home, where they share a brief, tender holiday. When Clive suddenly returns to his regiment, Prudence follows him, and his friend Monty Mowbray tries to persuade him to go back to duty. The story of Screen Guild Theater's This Above All, from the 1943 broadcast of March 1, 1943, is adapted from Eric Knight's novel, with Herbert Marshall, Virginia Bruce, and Alan Mowbray in the leading roles.

Listen for: Listen for Clive's shifting moods and his argument with Monty about whether England is worth fighting for.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
