What happens
Bob Kittridge, a foreign correspondent for the Amalgamated News Agency, is pursued by agents after a Romanian source named Gregory Vanescu promises him a major story. Bob has been fired and hopes the story will restore his job and his standing with Christina Hill. Vanescu arranges a secret meeting at the Lincoln Memorial, and Christina's roommate Sally is sent to take down the dictation. Sally returns shaken, reporting that the notebook was stolen, and the evening takes a series of strange turns. This is a Screen Guild Theater presentation from February 15, 1943, starring Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour and Phyllis Ruth, adapted from Samuel Goldwyn's comedy They Got Me Covered.
Washington, D.C., with scenes at the Lincoln Memorial, an apartment, the Cafe Moresque and the La Roche Beauty Salon
Characters: Bob Kittridge, Christina Hill, Gregory Vanescu, Sally, Otto Fausch, Olga Vanescu, Gloria the Glow Girl
Listen for: Bob's quick schemes and Christina's exasperation as the plot tangles, especially the comic exchanges in the apartment and the beauty salon.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
