What happens

Inspector George A. Briggs of the FBI investigates a secret German spy ring operating in New York during 1941 and after. An accident on a busy street leads agents to a notebook and a coded message referring to Process 97, a secret atomic weapon project. Agents trace the hidden message through a fashion shop on 92nd Street and an American-born informant, Bill Dietrich, who is sent back to New York by Nazi handlers. The Screen Guild Theater broadcast presents this account, based on FBI records, with Lloyd Nolan as Briggs, William Lundigan as Dietrich and Lucille Meredith as Elsa Gerhart. The first part of the drama follows the agents' pursuit of the secret papers and the growing pressure on the suspects.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
