What happens
Louisa Gingle-Busher, a young maid raised in an orphanage, is taken to a grand ball by a waiter named Debt-laff. There she meets Mr. Conrad, a wealthy meatpacking executive who sits down at her table and pursues her. To avoid his advances, Louisa claims to be married, and Conrad vows to make her husband rich. Searching the phone book, she picks a poor lawyer, Dr. Max Sporum, on Weisenberger Street, and Conrad appoints him his general South American legal representative. Sporum is delighted by his sudden fortune, and the two begin to spend time together. This is the Screen Guild Theater's radio adaptation of Universal Pictures' comedy The Good Fairy, based on the play by Clarence Molnar, broadcast on 1944-07-31 and starring Frederick March, Deanna Durbin and Gene Lockhart.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
