What happens
Olivia Bramson, a nervous young woman, lives with her invalid aunt, Mrs. Bramson, in a house near a summer hotel. A newspaper item reports that a guest, Mrs. Chalfont, has disappeared. The aunt hires a charming young man called Danny, who quickly begins to unsettle the household. Olivia grows suspicious of him as he moves through the house, and a missing hatbox and a strange sense of threat begin to build. Night Must Fall is a Screen Guild Theater radio adaptation of Emlyn Williams' play, first broadcast on July 24, 1944, starring James Cagney as Danny, Dame May Whitty as Mrs. Bramson and Rosemary DeCamp as Olivia.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
