What happens
Dr. Elliot, a psychologist, becomes involved in a murder investigation when Frank Peralta is found dead in his apartment. Harry Collins, one of two identical twin sisters, is suspected because a neighbor identified her at the scene, but neither twin will explain where she was. Lieutenant Stevenson questions the doctor as the sisters' conduct grows increasingly strange. The Screen Guild Theater broadcast of The Dark Mirror, aired on February 2, 1948, stars Lou Ayres as Dr. Elliot and Loretta Young in the dual role of the twins. This episode presents the first part of the story.
Hollywood, 1948: the city, a medical building, and an apartment where a murder has taken place.
Characters: Dr. Elliot, Harry Collins, Ruth Collins, Lieutenant Stevenson, Frank Peralta
Listen for: Listen for the twins' conflicting alibis and Dr. Elliot's tests, which seem to reveal which sister is which.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
