What happens
Babe Ruth, a young pitcher raised at St. Mary's School in Baltimore, joins the Baltimore Orioles after manager Jack Dunn sees him play. Coached and steadied by Dunn and later Miller Huggins, Ruth becomes a national sensation, first as a pitcher and then as a slugger for the New York Yankees. The broadcast follows his early rise, his stormy friction with Huggins, and the adoration of fans who see him as their hero. This is the Screen Guild Theater's dramatization of Babe Ruth's life, presented in 1948 with William Bendix and Charles Bickford in the lead roles, and this part of the episode covers only his early years in the game.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
