What happens
Tom Verney, a young man with an unfinished college education, takes a job as private secretary to Miss McGregor, a sharp-minded advertising executive at the firm of Atwater and McGregor. She asks him to join her on social errands, including an evening meant to reassure a jealous wife while McGregor courts a client's account. Tom finds the arrangement awkward, and his own dreams of painting in Mexico surface during their talks. McGregor insists she is not sentimental, and the two trade barbs as their working relationship grows more personal. The story is a romantic comedy from the Screen Guild Theater series, first broadcast on February 19, 1945, starring Donald Meek's rival in the cast, Donna Meetschi, Linda Darnell and Franklin Pangborn.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
