What happens

Lena Isgarth, played by Loretta Young, believes her husband John Isgarth, played by Cary Grant, is planning to murder her. Nigel Bruce plays Biki Thwaite, John's friend. Shortly after the honeymoon, Lena discovers that John is broke, heavily in debt, and has been secretly betting on horses despite his promises. She learns he has also been dismissed from his job for embezzlement. As Lena watches John's behavior toward Biki, she becomes convinced that he means to kill for money. The Screen Guild Theater presents this adaptation of the Hitchcock-directed story, first broadcast on January 21, 1946.

England, in and around the Isgarths' country house and in London during the 1940s

Characters: Lena Isgarth, John Isgarth, Biki Thwaite, Captain Melbeck, Isabelle Cornwall

Listen for: Lena's narration of her growing suspicion of John, and the scene where Biki collapses after drinking brandy at the Isgarths' house

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
