What happens

Dewey Roberts, a candidate for the presidency, waits in a Washington hotel suite while reminiscing with Nora Trinell, his former schoolteacher from Indiana. The Screen Guild Theater radio adaptation of the film Remember the Day, starring Loretta Young and Francis Tone, recounts her first meeting with colleague Dan Hopkins at Auburn school decades earlier and the start of their romance. Their argument over a class outing and a baseball game leads to a summer spent together and a postcard that reaches the school principal, Mr. Steele. The first portion of the broadcast follows how the couple's relationship draws scrutiny from the town and affects both of their careers.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
