What happens

A young companion, newly married to the wealthy widower Maxim de Winter, arrives at his estate Manderley and struggles against the lingering presence of his late first wife, Rebecca. The household staff, especially the housekeeper Mrs. Danvers, keeps Rebecca's memory alive, and the new wife tries to win her husband's regard by changing her appearance and wearing a costume copied from a family portrait. Her efforts bring her into conflict with Maxim and deepen her sense of isolation. Screen Guild Theater presents this radio adaptation of the novel Rebecca, starring Loretta Young and John Lund, originally broadcast on November 18, 1948.

Monte Carlo, then the Manderley estate on the Cornish coast, including its gardens, beach cottage and grand house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
