What happens

Carol Richmond, secretary to Scott Henderson, believes he is innocent after he is accused of murdering his wife. Scott insists he spent the evening with an unknown woman wearing a distinctive hat, but the witnesses who could confirm it are dying or refuse to talk. Carol, with Inspector Burgess's unofficial help, sets out to find that woman and prove Scott's account. Her friend Jack Marlow offers support as the pressure grows. The adaptation is from the Universal film Phantom Lady, presented by the Lady Esther Screen Guild Players on September 11, 1944, with Louise Albritton, Walter Abel, Ralph Bellamy and David Bruce in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
