What happens
Dan Roberts, a convict, is being escorted back to San Quentin by Steve Burke, a police officer, on a passenger liner bound from Hong Kong toward San Francisco. The two men are shackled together, and their journey is marked by an uneasy friendship and a shared trip around the world. Aboard ship, Dan meets Joan Ames, a young woman with a serious heart condition who is determined to enjoy whatever time she has left. Their romance deepens as the ship crosses the Pacific, while Steve keeps a watchful eye on his prisoner. Robert Taylor, Barbara Stanwick and Ward Bond star in this Screen Guild Theater adaptation of the Warner Brothers film One Way Passage, first broadcast on April 5, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
