What happens
Paul Dodd, a widower in rural Connecticut, lives with his five-year-old daughter Susan, who is seriously ill with a weak heart. To give her a happy life, he has built an enchanted fantasy world, including a silver prince and a magic city. The arrival of singer Martha Sheldon next door, who has lost her voice, brings a new figure into Susan's imagination as her godmother. Paul is wary of the neighbors and of the visitor's attention, and Susan's outings and visits strain his efforts to keep the fantasy intact. This Screen Guild Theater play, written by Stephen Morehouse Avery and directed by Sidney Franklin, stars Leslie Howard as Paul, Kay Francis as Martha and Virginia Weidler as Susan.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
